Step-by-step guide

How to use MiVPN, WiVPN and SiVPN

Pick your product and follow the steps. No jargon: you'll be connected in minutes.

Your own VPN server, at home

MiVPN turns a computer that stays on (or the MiVPN Box) into your VPN server. From anywhere you connect to it and it's like being at home: your same IP and access to your network.

Your same IP Access to your network No third parties
What you need
  • A computer that stays on at home: Windows, Mac, Linux or a Raspberry Pi. Or the MiVPN Box, which arrives already set up.
  • Your mivpn.net account with a MiVPN plan (the free one is fine to start).
  • Internet at home. If your provider doesn't let you receive connections, the paid plans solve it with the relay, without touching the router.
Step by step
1

Install MiVPN Server on the computer that will be your server

Download it for Windows, macOS or Linux (Raspberry Pi too) and install it. You install it once and it keeps running even after a reboot. Got the MiVPN Box? Skip this step: just plug it into the router and the power.

2

Sign in with your account

Open MiVPN Server and sign in with your email and password. It creates the server by itself, opens the way on your router or turns on the relay if needed. Your dashboard will show “Server running”.

Install the MiVPN app on your devices

Phone, tablet, Android TV, Windows, Mac or Linux. Sign in with the same account: your email and password.

4

Create your admin user

Before connecting, create your first user from the app and mark it as admin. Its configuration downloads by itself: no files. Later you can create more users and guests.

5

Tap connect

One tap and you're home. The first time, the system will ask permission for the VPN connection: allow it. From your dashboard you'll see the server status, connected devices, users and guests, invoices and payment method.

Good to know
Free plan

Up to 2 devices. It needs a connection that accepts connections from outside (public IP) and a router with UPnP. Otherwise, choose a plan with relay.

The relay, hands-free

On paid plans, if your line doesn't accept connections, a meeting point of ours acts as a bridge. It turns on by itself and can't read your data: it's encrypted.

Changing computers?

Install MiVPN Server on the new one and sign in: it becomes your server. Your devices reconfigure themselves from the app.

From the TV

With the app on Android TV, scan the QR code with your phone to fill in forms or authorise the TV with your phone's keyboard.
